Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok is on Rama III Road, where the Chao Phraya views and space in the hotel are a larger part of the appeal than immediate rail access. Recent guest accounts also describe renovation work and some unavailable facilities. That makes the state of the upgrade more relevant to a stay than treating older photographs as a complete picture of the hotel now.
The Rama III address changes the journey
Marriott gives the address as 372 Rama III Road in Bang Kho Laem. Its overview describes river-facing accommodation and a shuttle to Asiatique. This is a riverside base outside the most familiar Sukhumvit and Siam hotel clusters. For someone whose outings rely on cars, that may be a workable arrangement; a guest planning every journey around a station beside the lobby has a different requirement.
A guest in a Premier King Room with River View on Trip.com said they were using Grab and did not find the distance from the station a problem. That does not establish a fixed travel time or traffic-free route. It simply shows how travel habits can change the significance of the same location. No airport journey time or continuous shuttle frequency is promised here.
River-facing rooms, with traditional interiors
The official accommodation page describes river views, Thai-style wooden furniture and king or twin beds. It also identifies larger suites, including a Queen Suite with a lounge and multiple bathrooms. Those descriptions indicate different layouts within the property, rather than one standard room configuration. The view and the amount of living space are separate reasons for moving between categories.
A Standard King river-view guest found their room clean and spacious. Another guest in the same named category described older facilities and noisy air-conditioning, while still praising the service. Both comments are useful because neither room size nor a river outlook resolves questions about maintenance or sleep. A positive account in one room cannot erase a specific complaint from another.
Renovation reports should stay visible
More than one Trip.com guest described ongoing upgrades. A July stay reported noise and unavailable facilities, and an August stay noted that some areas were not yet as convenient or polished. These are reports from particular periods, not a verified completion timetable. The review therefore does not promise that all previously advertised facilities are currently operating in the same form.
That limitation affects how the pool photograph should be read. It establishes a published image of the hotel, not a guarantee of the exact conditions or access during a later visit. The official pages continue to advertise the property, but they do not by themselves settle every renovation-related question raised in the guest accounts.

A river stay with a condition attached
Montien Riverside’s own dining description highlights Hainanese chicken rice, dim sum and a garden lounge. These give the property a hotel-focused side, useful when spending an evening by the river rather than travelling back into a shopping district. The available evidence does not establish the opening arrangements for every restaurant during the works, so a complete dining timetable is not assumed.
The clearest fit is a traveller who values a river-facing room and a larger, traditional hotel, and whose travel pattern does not depend on direct rail access. The main unresolved point is the upgrade programme and how it affects the facilities or quietness for the chosen stay. That is a real qualification to the room and location benefits, rather than an incidental warning attached to an otherwise unqualified recommendation.
Dining venues have different opening patterns
The separate dining page identifies The Emperor for Cantonese and Szechuan food with dim sum, The Café on the second floor for international dishes and the signature chicken rice, and Saichol & Lounge Bar for the riverside garden setting. It lists different operating days for these venues, with some limited to particular days of the week. That is relevant during an upgrade period: verify the specific restaurant you intend to use rather than assuming every advertised outlet will be available each night.
